The Debate.....

Ok not gonna give my whole rundown of the debate but for the pundits....

The Rich Are Staging a Coup This Morning ...a message from Michael Moore

The Rich Are Staging a Coup This Morning ...a message from Michael Moore

Friends,
Let me cut to the chase. The biggest robbery in the history of this country is taking place as you read this. Though no guns are being used, 300 million hostages are being taken. Make no mistake about it: After stealing a half trillion dollars to line the pockets of their war-profiteering backers for the past five years, after lining the pockets of their fellow oilmen to the tune of over a hundred billion dollars in just the last two years, Bush and his cronies -- who must soon vacate the White House -- are looting the U.S. Treasury of every dollar they can grab. They are swiping as much of the silverware as they can on their way out the door.

No matter what they say, no matter how many scare words they use, they are up to their old tricks of creating fear and confusion in order to make and keep themselves and the upper one percent filthy rich. Just read the first four paragraphs of the lead story in last Monday's New York Times and you can see what the real deal is:

"Even as policy makers worked on details of a $700 billion bailout of the financial industry, Wall Street began looking for ways to profit from it. "Financial firms were lobbying to have all manner of troubled investments covered, not just those related to mortgages. "At the same time, investment firms were jockeying to oversee all the assets that Treasury plans to take off the books of financial institutions, a role that could earn them hundreds of millions of dollars a year in fees. "Nobody wants to be left out of Treasury's proposal to buy up bad assets of financial institutions."

Unbelievable. Wall Street and its backers created this mess and now they are going to clean up like bandits. Even Rudy Giuliani is lobbying for his firm to be hired (and paid) to "consult" in the bailout.

The problem is, nobody truly knows what this "collapse" is all about. Even Treasury Secretary Paulson admitted he doesn't know the exact amount that is needed (he just picked the $700 billion number out of his head!). The head of the congressional budget office said he can't figure it out nor can he explain it to anyone.

And yet, they are screeching about how the end is near! Panic! Recession! The Great Depression! Y2K! Bird flu! Killer bees! We must pass the bailout bill today!! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Falling for whom? NOTHING in this "bailout" package will lower the price of the gas you have to put in your car to get to work. NOTHING in this bill will protect you from losing your home. NOTHING in this bill will give you health insurance.

Health insurance? Mike, why are you bringing this up? What's this got to do with the Wall Street collapse?

It has everything to do with it. This so-called "collapse" was triggered by the massive defaulting and foreclosures going on with people's home mortgages. Do you know why so many Americans are losing their homes? To hear the Republicans describe it, it's because too many working class idiots were given mortgages that they really couldn't afford. Here's the truth: The number one cause of people declaring bankruptcy is because of medical bills. Let me state this simply: If we had had universal health coverage, this mortgage "crisis" may never have happened.

This bailout's mission is to protect the obscene amount of wealth that has been accumulated in the last eight years. It's to protect the top shareholders who own and control corporate America. It's to make sure their yachts and mansions and "way of life" go uninterrupted while the rest of America suffers and struggles to pay the bills. Let the rich suffer for once. Let them pay for the bailout. We are spending 400 million dollars a day on the war in Iraq. Let them end the war immediately and save us all another half-trillion dollars!

I have to stop writing this and you have to stop reading it. They are staging a financial coup this morning in our country. They are hoping Congress will act fast before they stop to think, before we have a chance to stop them ourselves. So stop reading this and do something -- NOW! Here's what you can do immediately:

1. Call or e-mail Senator Obama. Tell him he does not need to be sitting there trying to help prop up Bush and Cheney and the mess they've made. Tell him we know he has the smarts to slow this thing down and figure out what's the best route to take. Tell him the rich have to pay for whatever help is offered. Use the leverage we have now to insist on a moratorium on home foreclosures, to insist on a move to universal health coverage, and tell him that we the people need to be in charge of the economic decisions that affect our lives, not the barons of Wall Street.

2. Take to the streets. Participate in one of the hundreds of quickly-called demonstrations that are taking place all over the country (especially those near Wall Street and DC).

3. Call your Representative in Congress and your Senators. (click here to find their phone numbers). Tell them what you told Senator Obama.

When you screw up in life, there is hell to pay. Each and every one of you reading this knows that basic lesson and has paid the consequences of your actions at some point. In this great democracy, we cannot let there be one set of rules for the vast majority of hard-working citizens, and another set of rules for the elite, who, when they screw up, are handed one more gift on a silver platter. No more! Not again!

Yours,Michael MooreMMFlint@aol.comMichaelMoore.com

P.S. Having read further the details of this bailout bill, you need to know you are being lied to. They talk about how they will prevent golden parachutes. It says NOTHING about what these executives and fat cats will make in SALARY. According to Rep. Brad Sherman of California, these top managers will continue to receive million-dollar-a-month paychecks under this new bill. There is no direct ownership given to the American people for the money being handed over. Foreign banks and investors will be allowed to receive billion-dollar handouts. A large chunk of this $700 billion is going to be given directly to Chinese and Middle Eastern banks. There is NO guarantee of ever seeing that money again.

P.P.S. From talking to people I know in DC, they say the reason so many Dems are behind this is because Wall Street this weekend put a gun to their heads and said either turn over the $700 billion or the first thing we'll start blowing up are the pension funds and 401(k)s of your middle class constituents. The Dems are scared they may make good on their threat. But this is not the time to back down or act like the typical Democrat we have witnessed for the last eight years. The Dems handed a stolen election over to Bush. The Dems gave Bush the votes he needed to invade a sovereign country. Once they took over Congress in 2007, they refused to pull the plug on the war. And now they have been cowered into being accomplices in the crime of the century. You have to call them now and say "NO!" If we let them do this, just imagine how hard it will be to get anything good done when President Obama is in the White House. THESE DEMOCRATS ARE ONLY AS STRONG AS THE BACKBONE WE GIVE THEM. CALL CONGRESS NOW.

Even the kids get it....LOL

A little boy goes to his dad and asks,

'What is Politics ?'

Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family , so call me The President .

Your mother is the administrator of the money, so! we call her the Government .

We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People .

The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class .

And your baby brother, we will call him the Future .

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'

So the little boy! Goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.

He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny.

He gives up and goes back to bed. The next morning, the little boy says to his father,

'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.'

The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'

The little boy replies,

'The President is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit .

700 Billion worth of CRAZY PILLS!

OK so I took the weekend off, amidst the decline of my own 401K and the feeling like the US economy has finally hit a brick wall, after the Government took away the seatbelt.......

Now for those that follow politics, and market regulation you understand that this was known to be coming, maybe quicker then we thought though.....

So in a nutshell, the Bush administration cut back on regulating wall street.... so when the cats away the mice hand out billions in risky loans, and stocks go through the roof for banks...... Fast Forward to the mortgage crisis, and now stocks and loans look pretty bad.......

AIG gets bailed out for 85 Billion....... enter CRISIS stage left....

Bush appointed Henry Paulson comes in to save the day....... Bush gives a quick speech, then walks away with no questions, then Paulson shows up and says to give him $700Billion dollars no strings attached.....to fix the issue....

The problem is no one has presented how this plan will work, or what happens if/when it fails.....

This plan is so bold faced even the Republican Party is not in support of it..... the administration is painting the democratic congress as holding off the key to this issue, but NO ONE believes this will work.....

In a statement from the Republican Study Committee..

The RSC will be putting out more information throughout the week, but in the meantime, attached is a document listing ten of the major conservative concerns with the Treasury Department's proposal.

TEN CONSERVATIVE CONCERNS WITH THE TREASURY BAILOUT

1) Fundamentally alters the nation's free-market system in that it broadly socializes firm's money-losing mortgage assets and places the U.S. on a slippery slope whereby profits will also be nationalized. Even if one accepts the idea that such a proposal could work, valid questions about whether such a cost is an acceptable trade-off for the market turmoil we are hoping to avoid must be raised.

2) Fails to penalize the debtholders and shareholders (including many of the executives themselves), who should bear the risk of any losses, and indirectly infuses capital onto the books of financial institutions with no recourse.

3) Cedes massive authority to Treasury, with virtually no accountability. The Presidential election is a mere six weeks away and a new Secretary will take office in January 2009. Lawmakers and taxpayers have no idea what individual will ultimately be exercising this vast new authority over the long-term.

4) What if it fails? The plan does not give any consideration to what would occur if this authority failed to solve the current crisis. Those reasons could potentially include risk from other private sector failures outside of mortgage-backed assets, international financial services failures, lack of willing sellers, lack of willing buyers, an understatement of the depth of the problem or the financial commitment needed to abate it, or even the fact that the program might work according to planned but produce no beneficial impact.

5) Forces Treasury to pay inflated prices for assets. Since there is nothing in the proposal that forces financial institutions to sell their assets at a discount rate, or even at all, many of these owners may simply wait out the government to increase their bid, leading to more inflated prices than the market would currently bear.

6) Increases the federal deficit and national debt. The new mandatory spending will cause a massive increase in the national debt and the federal deficit. These annual deficits are funded by selling government bonds purchased by a host of large investors, including foreign countries. There is a limit to the amount of bonds that a government can float without adverse financial effects.

7) Contains no taxpayer protections, such as requiring the cost of purchasing these assets to flow through the annual appropriations process or requiring a participation fee or premium so that firms have to "pay to play."

8) Insulates financial institutions that do not even pose a systemic risk. Some companies may truly pose a systemic risk to the entire market. However, there is no requirement under the proposal that a company truly be "too big to fail." Instead, any financial institution with mortgage-related assets would be eligible.

9) Contains no safeguards against favoritism. Treasury officials will have no criteria for which to prioritize which mortgage-related assets to purchase first, from who, and when.

10) Bails out foreign-owned banks. The latest incarnation of the proposal allows foreign-owned banks and their U.S. subsidiaries to participate. This change runs the risk of forcing taxpayers to subsidize the poor decisions of foreign companies at a time when their local governments are refusing to supply their own capital to make such a subsidy themselves.

Mitt Romney Blasting Mccain!

Mccain's Health

John McCain has not yet released his medical records to the public. McCain is 72 years old, and has been diagnosed with invasive melanoma. In May of this year, a small group of selected reporters were allowed to review 1,173 pages of McCain's medical records that covered only the last eight years, and were allowed only three hours to do so. John McCain's health is an issue of profound importance. We call on John McCain to issue a full, public disclosure of all of his medical records, available for the media and members of the general public to review.

Alaska women rally against Palin!

This is the largest political rally in state history......

From Mudflats:

Never have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn’t honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute. This just doesn’t happen here.

So, if you’ve been doing the math… Yes. The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin’s rally that got all the national media coverage! So take heart, sit back, and enjoy…Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans.

UPDATE: According to John Amato over at C&L, Alaskan right-wing talk radio host Eddie Burke exposed the names of this rally's organizers on the air. And he called those who protested "socialist, baby killing, maggots."

Sarah's Interview mishap....

A number of the claims that Palin made were false. She has never issued an order to the Alaska National Guard and every vice president “over the last 30 years had met a foreign head of state before being elected.” In addition to saying that she hasn’t “really focused much on the war in Iraq” in March 2007, Palin also called for “an exit plan” from Iraq. Although she can see Russia from some parts of Alaska, Palin has never actually traveled there.

ThinkProgress has put together a document compiling what we know about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) vice presidential running mate. Here are the issues:

Lou Dobbs buys Racist Obama Waffles

http://www.pamshouseblend.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=6994

September 14, 2008. WASHINGTON - (AP) Activists at a conservative political forum snapped up boxes of waffle mix depicting Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as a racial stereotype on its front and wearing Arab-like headdress on its top flap.

Values Voter Summit organizers cut off sales of Obama Waffles boxes on Saturday, saying they had not realized the boxes displayed "offensive material." The summit and the exhibit hall where the boxes were sold had been open since Thursday afternoon.

The box was meant as political satire, said Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, two writers from Franklin, Tenn., who created the mix. They sold it for $10 a box from a rented booth at the summit sponsored by the lobbying arm of the Family Research Council.

David Nammo, executive director of the lobbying group FRC Action, said summit organizers were told the boxes were a parody of Obama's policy positions but had not examined them closely.

Republican Party stalwarts Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney were among speakers at the forum, which officials said drew 2,100 activists from 44 states.

While Obama Waffles takes aim at Obama's politics by poking fun at his public remarks and positions on issues, it also plays off the old image of the pancake-mix icon Aunt Jemima, which has been widely criticized as a demeaning stereotype. Obama is portrayed with popping eyes and big, thick lips as he stares at a plate of waffles and smiles broadly.

Placing Obama in Arab-like headdress recalls the false rumor that he is a follower of Islam, though he is actually a Christian.

On the back of the box, Obama is depicted in stereotypical Mexican dress, including a sombrero, above a recipe for "Open Border Fiesta Waffles" that says it can serve "4 or more illegal aliens." The recipe includes a tip: "While waiting for these zesty treats to invade your home, why not learn a foreign language?"

The novelty item also takes shots at 2004 Democratic nominee John Kerry, Obama's wife, Michelle, and Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

The Obama campaign declined to comment.

Wearing white chef's aprons, Whitlock and DeMoss were doing a brisk business at noon Saturday selling the waffle mix to people crowded around their booth. Two pyramids of waffle mix boxes stood several feet high on the booth's table.

"It's the ultimate political souvenir," DeMoss told a customer.

Asked if he considered the pictures of Obama on the box to be racial stereotypes, Whitlock said: "We had some people mention that to us, but you think of Newman's Own or Emeril's — there are tons and tons of personality-branded food products on the market. So we've taken that model and, using political satire, have highlighted his policies, his position changes."

The socially conservative public policy groups American Values and Focus on the Family Action co-sponsored the summit.

September 15, 2008. MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that CNN anchor Lou Dobbs was out hob nobbing with man who created the racially charged box of pancakes with offensive imagery.

But we can't take credit for this story, it belongs to the progressive site Pam's House Blend:

Hmmm...why would the page on the Obama Waffles site linked above suddenly get pulled? After all, Lou Dobbs, a speaker at the Values Voter Summit, stopped by the vendor table to give a slamming endorsement of the product; it depicts Barack Obama as a Muslim bug-eyed Aunt Jemima. The photo, as you can see, shows an approving Dobbs with a box of the mix in his hand.

For those of you who may have missed yesterday's post, Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss, two aspiring Klansmen writers from Tennessee set up a booth sponsored by Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council to sell the Obama Waffles, asserting it was "political satire."

After Think Progress covered this story, the page was yanked from the ObamaWaffles web site, and FRC issued a feeble press release trying to distance itself from the product, claiming it didn't vet the vendor's product and didn't realize the boxes on display were "offensive material."

The man doesn't deserve to have a job. His ratings are awful, his anti-hispanic and anti-immigrant remarks border on racist, and he's well past retirement age.

Palin....Really?!?!?

So Last night Sarah Palin gave her first interview, and got RIPPED!

Shout out to Charles Gibson, I didn't think he was gonna be tough enough.....but he did a good job...

Part 1

Part 2

Even Matt Damon can't stand this person!

Palin tries to defend qualifications in interview

Associated Press

FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska – John McCain running mate Sarah Palin sought Thursday to defend her qualifications but struggled with foreign policy, unable to describe President Bush's doctrine of pre-emptive strikes against threatening nations and acknowledging she's never met a foreign head of state.

The Republican vice presidential nominee told Charles Gibson of ABC News in her first televised interview since being named to the GOP ticket that "I'm ready" to be president if called upon. However, she sidestepped on whether she had the national security credentials needed to be commander in chief.

Palin, 44, has been Alaska's governor for less than two years and before that was a small-town mayor. She was McCain's surprise selection for the No. 2 slot on the ticket, raising questions about her readiness to serve in the White House, particularly during wartime.

McCain has defended her qualifications, citing her command of the Alaska National Guard and Alaska's proximity to Russia.

Asked whether those were sufficient credentials, Palin said: "It is about reform of government and it's about putting government back on the side of the people, and that has much to do with foreign policy and national security issues." She said she brings expertise in making the country energy independent as a former chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.
She acknowledged that national security encompasses more than energy but said: "I want you to not lose sight of the fact that energy is a foundation of national security."

Palin said other than a trip to visit soldiers in Kuwait and Germany last year — "a trip of a lifetime" that "changed my life" — her only other foreign travel was to Mexico and Canada. She also said she had never met a head of state and added: "If you go back in history and if you ask that question of many vice presidents, they may have the same answer that I just gave you."
Pressed about what insights into recent Russian actions she gained by living in Alaska, Palin answered: "They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."

Foreign policy questions dominated the first of three interviews Palin was giving Gibson over two days.

In the interview Thursday, Palin:

_Appeared unsure of the Bush doctrine — essentially that the United States must help spread democracy to stop terrorism and that the nation will act pre-emptively to stop potential foes.
Asked whether she agreed with that, Palin said: "In what respect, Charlie?" Gibson pressed her for an interpretation of it. She said: "His world view." That prompted Gibson to say "no, the Bush doctrine, enunciated September 2002, before the Iraq war" and describe it to her.
"I believe that what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism, terrorists who are hell bent on destroying our nation," Palin said, though added "there have been mistakes made."

Pressed repeatedly on whether the United States could attack terrorist hideouts in Pakistan without the country's permission, she said: "If there is legitimate and enough intelligence that tells us that a strike is imminent against American people, we have every right to defend our country. In fact, the president has the obligation, the duty to defend."

_Said nuclear weapons in Iran's hands are dangerous, and said "we've got to put the pressure on Iran." Asked three times what her position would be if Israel felt threatened enough to attack Iranian nuclear facilities, Palin repeatedly said the United States shouldn't "second guess" Israel's steps to secure itself.

_Called for Georgia and the Ukraine to be included in NATO, a treaty that requires the U.S. to defend them militarily. She also said Russia's attack into Georgia last month was "unprovoked." Asked to clarify that she'd support going to war over Georgia, she said: "Perhaps so."

"I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help," she said.

_Said she "didn't hesitate" when McCain asked her to be his running mate. "I answered him 'yes' because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate."

_Contradicted an assertion she made at her former church that "our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Asked whether she thought the United States was fighting a holy war, she said she meant to convey that she agreed with Abraham Lincoln's quote that "I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words."

Later, in the second interview, Palin said she broke from McCain on climate change and oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. McCain has said humans have caused climate change and the federal government shouldn't permit drilling in the federally protected wildlife reserve.

Palin, however, said: "I believe that man's activities certainly can be contributing to the issue of global warming, climate change. ... Regardless though of the reason for climate change, whether it's entirely, wholly caused by man's activities or is part of the cyclical nature of our planet — the warming and the cooling trends — regardless of that, John McCain and I agree that we gotta do something about it."

On ANWR, she said: "We'll agree to disagree but I'm gonna keep pushing that and I think eventually we're all gonna come together on that one."

Cassidy, Saigon, and Termanology~ Stick to the Script

I told ya'll Termanology was on the come up......

Prosecutor Pressing War Profit charges....

I'm Alan Grayson, and I prosecute war profiteers in Iraq. In 2006, I ran for Congress in Orlando, and I lost the Democratic primary by 3000 votes. This year, I ran for Congress again, and I beat the same primary opponent by 7000 votes.

Here's why this time is different, not just for me, but for a lot of other candidates:

(1) People want solutions to their problems, and progressives offer solutions to them. In other years, Democrats supported "centrists," thinking that they could win that way. (Somehow, most Republicans never saw a need to do that.) This year, people want Democrats who are not afraid to be Democrats. They want Democrats with guts. They want Democrats who will stake out our position on what direction is good for America, and then move America in that direction. They want change.

(2) Because our problems are so severe, the last thing that people want to listen to are candidates who talk about themselves. You want to talk about what to do about the economy, health care, education, the war -- good. You want to talk about endorsements, where you're from, your loving spouse -- bad. Our formula was very simple: here's what's wrong, and here's what we're going to do about it. It's not about the candidate. It never is.

(3) The best campaign is one that involves people. Our staff and volunteers knocked on over 100,000 doors, and made over 100,000 phone calls. Our chief opponent ran a TV ad. That's a big difference. What people dislike most about elected officials is the sense that they are being ignored. When you run a campaign that touches people, and listens to them, then you're conveying the idea that you'll keep listening after the election is over.

(4) The best assurance that you can give to people that you'll do something good for them in the future is if you've done something good for them in the past. When I told people that I fight war profiteers in Iraq, it wasn't to make me look good. It was to give people a degree of comfort that I could be counted on to remain a progressive in Congress. And this opens up a wonderful possibility: that public-interest lawyers, and teachers, and social workers, and nurses -- and even documentary makers! -- will have a leg up when they run for public office, because the voters know that they will keep on doing good things for them. So, Robert Greenwald for Governor!

Republicans financially supporting Obama

This is an article I've found amusing, so Sarah Palin has been using the Barracuda song of the rock band "Heart" After being asked not to use it. The group actually supports Obama.....

Ironically since the GOP refuses to stop using it due to already paying for it, the band members will be donating a portion of royalties to Barack....... AHAHAHAHAHAAHAH

McCain and Palin once again play 'Barracuda'

Heart guitarists Nancy and Ann Wilson don't want the McCain campaign to play their song.
LEBANON, Ohio (CNN) – The rock band "Heart" may have asked John McCain and Sarah Palin stop playing their song "Barracuda" at their rallies, but the campaign is apparently paying no heed.

The track — played at the Republican National Convention in honor of the Vice Presidential nominee, who earned the nickname "Sarah Barracuda" playing high school basketball in Alaska — was pumped through the streets of Lebanon, Ohio on Tuesday morning at an outdoor rally before the GOP ticket showed up.

Earlier: Heart condemns McCain-Palin use of 'Barracuda'
When the song was played after Palin's convention speech last week, the band members quickly requested that McCain and Palin pull the plug.

"Sarah Palin's views and values in no way represent us as American women," Ann and Nancy Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. "We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image."

But the McCain camp said last week that it had paid for and obtained all necessary licenses before using the song.

And the band's former guitarist, Roger Fisher, told Reuters last week that the McCain camp’s use of the song benefited both sides: Republicans get "the ingenious placement of a kick-ass song" — and Heart gets headlines and royalties. Part of that money, said Fisher, would be heading to the Arizona senator’s opponent: "With my contribution to Obama's campaign, the Republicans are now supporting Obama," he told Reuters.

Obama Holds his Own on O'Reilly

I'm not gonna act like I wasn't worried with Obama going on the O'Reilly Show.... But he held his own..... Check out parts one and two and part three is tonight....

This is what Bill had to Say about Obama after the interview.....

"On the foreign policy front, Obama has convinced me that he is tough but cautious. He rose up quickly because he vehemently opposed the Iraq war. But now I see a man who understands the victory that has taken place in Iraq. I don't believe he wants to screw that up. I could be wrong.

After going mano-a-mano with Obama on television, I am also persuaded that he is a sincere guy—that he wants the best for all Americans. He's an ideologue, but not a blind one. He understands that his story is incredible, and, I have come to believe, he is grateful to the American system for allowing it happen. It is true that we don't know whether Senator Obama has the ability to solve complex problems, but you can say that about all presidential contenders."

Community Organizers Speak on GOP statements...

Optimum Capital Management, LLC

Announces ENOUGH!

New York, NY - September 8th, 2008

As a community organizer, I want to send this letter to John McCain and the Republican Party, on behalf of all of the community organizers in America. This is letter is written for all of those community organizers like myself who wake up every morning with only one thought on their mind, "How can I make my community better?" It is written for all of those like me who rarely get paid and are hardly ever provided any incentive much more than the joy we feel from seeing one of our fellow community members get a paying job because of our efforts. Rudy Giuliani, you asked what a community organizer is. Sarah Palin, you implied that you were unaware of any real responsibilities that a community organizer had. Let me take a few brief words to explain it to you.

Community Organizer Responds to GOP Attacks!

Community organizers are the ones who actually roll up their sleeves and work in the neighborhoods and communities that are hardly ever seen by a politician. The main gripe that we hear from those we assist is, "We try to reach out to our local politicians but we never get any response." Where a void is left from the inability or unwillingness of our local politicians to insert some action where an abundance of words exists we are the ones who step up to the plate. We are the ones in the prisons teaching for free so that we can lower recidivism rates in our communities. We are the ones holding private meetings with gang members to urge them to trade in their guns for books and job applications. We are the ones who are working with the neglected population of homeless teens providing them with education about financial literacy, health, drugs, safe sex, and life skill implementation.

Governor Palin, do not talk to me about "real responsibility" until you have walked in our shoes. I am not going to down grade your responsibility, because I am sure that to be the Mayor of a town with 6000 people can have its difficulties and challenges. However, for you to disrespect the efforts of the people in the nation who love this country just because you want to score a political point is blasphemous. You hold yourself to be a true follower and believer of the Word of God, but where in the Word does it say that we must down others efforts just to uplift ourselves? Where in the Word of God does it say that we must attack the character of others in order to fulfill our own personal agenda? Do you honestly believe that the only way that one can sacrifice for this country is to be a POW? Of course not! You should be thankful for the sacrifice and the responsibility that is taken on every day by community organizers across the country. You would not have gotten elected into your seat as Mayor or Governor without the efforts of community organizers. If there were more community organizers in Alaska maybe your state would not have such high methamphetamine addiction and youth STD rates.Instead of thanks, we are belittled. I guess that you don't have to thank Martin Luther King Jr. who helped millions doing community organizing to lead the civil rights movement? I guess you would have been condescending to Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Stanton, and Lucy Stone for their work in the National Woman Suffrage Association community organizing for women across this nation? What about Jimmy Hoffa who was a community organizer for the rights of workers? Maybe he didn't have responsibility either? Let's travel overseas to look at the Ghandi, the community organizer who helped millions in India and around the world. Maybe he should have been belittled for his efforts. He himself stated what should be the creed of all community organizers, "Be the change that you want to see in the world." Are you encouraging those in this country and around the world to be that "change" with your words Governor Palin?
Last but not least, my favorite community organizer of which you and I owe a lot to because of our similar faiths, Jesus Christ was a community organizer. Do you think that He would condone your words against Barack Obama and degrading his actions to make a change in his community?

I don't have to point out famous community organizers, but can also make note of those community organizers who do not do the work for personal recognition but because it is just right. Wayne Harris who has dedicated his life to helping homeless youth...keep it up Wayne! Kevin Powell who has dedicated his life to making a positive change in the life of Black Males and who speaks out against violence against women...we need you Kevin and keep it up! George Mitchell who pulls people together to figure out ways to increase traffic to local community businesses...you have a lot of responsibility Brother George and we need your efforts! Dante Dixon who is a minister who uses the Word of God to help people start businesses across the country...I respect your efforts Mr. Dixon and please keep it up! Christina Hodges who has dedicated her life to teaching financial literacy for free throughout her community...don't let the comments from the GOP party discourage you! Lloyd Cambridge who works with youth and adults for free helping them start businesses...I respect you Lloyd! Darnell Canada who is an ex-offender yet still started numerous businesses for himself AND other people in the community...I respect and admire your work Darnell even if Giuliani and Palin do not! Barack Obama who served over 90,000 people while community organizing on the south side of Chicago... we know you could have used your Harvard degree to earn millions but you chose to work with the people! Barack, you are not the savior to the people but your actions and deeds have empowered millions across this country to be a savior to themselves! There are people who have jobs and a future because of your efforts. A "from the bottom up movement" is a movement that you started on the south side of Chicago but will end in the White House! We thank you and need more of you! To all of the community organizers out there who like me are overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated we cannot stop our efforts! As a community organizer I have had my life threatened, been assaulted, disrespected, dismissed, rejected, and undercut all because I want to help my community teaching financial literacy and spreading economic empowerment. These things happened because like other community organizers, we want to create opportunities for success but many times we get the most resistance from those we are trying to help. Governor Palin and Mayor Giuliani, the criticism and disrespect that you provide will NOT dissuade us from helping our community. It only serves to show that you and the Republican Party are out of touch with the American people. You get mad at Barack because he eats arugula but degrade those across the country whose only purpose is to make a difference. You get mad at Barack's statements of clinging to guns and religion, then you belittle the earnest efforts of those in the community trying to improve the lives of those around them. Then you claim yourselves to be patriotic and always put America first? In November the people will speak...if we are smart our voices and votes will put Obama in the White House because he has proven to be the only candidate who has not displayed the moral turpitude that has been destroying this country for the past 8 years! ENOUGH!

New Lupe Music...

I've been killing the politics this week since I've been back from Cali.... So here's some GOOD music for ya'll!

I Know Why prod. Prolyfic - Lupe Fiasco Feat. Gemini

The-Ob-iden Factor

Ok so for the most part I have been giving you all a lot of anti Mccain stories, well here you go.... Just for those that thought the dems were gonna play too soft...... enter Joe Biden Stage left...

As a prelude to this I watched an early Primary, where I was still tossing up between Hillary and Obama on who's policies I liked better.... There was one lone voice I must shoutout that from the Gate stated

"Biden would be the best candidate..... He will chip' Mccain! But the dem's won't let him be on the ticket because he's "TOO REAL"......" ~R. London

Even when the cards were down for Biden, he continued and even educated me to Bidens past, stances, and once again how real he truely was....

Oh and way before the list of VP's was down to 4 or 5 he chanted OBiden' 08! (I told you to buy that website! LOL)

So what does the Biden Factor bring in reference to keeping it real???

Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said earlier this week that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November.

Biden's comments, first reported by ABC news, attracted little notice on a day dominated by the drama surrounding his Republican counterpart, Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

But his statements represent the Democrats' strongest vow so far this year to investigate alleged misdeeds committed during the Bush years.

When asked during a campaign event in Deerfield Beach, Florida, whether he would "pursue the violations that have been made against our Constitution by the present administration", Biden answered in the affirmative.

"We will not be stopped from pursuing any criminal offence that's occurred," he continued, going on to praise congressional committees for the deliberate pace of their inquiries into alleged Bush administration misdeeds.

Members of Congress are "doing the right thing, they're not making false accusations about anything … they're collecting data, subpoenaing records, they're building a file", Biden said.

"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued – not out of vengeance, not out of retribution, out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president -- no one is above the law."

Obama sounded a similar note in April, vowing that if elected, he would ask his attorney general to initiate a prompt review of Bush-era actions to distinguish between possible "genuine crimes" and "really bad policies".

"[I]f crimes have been committed, they should be investigated," Obama told the Philadelphia Daily News. "You're also right that I would not want my first term consumed by what was perceived on the part of Republicans as a partisan witch hunt, because I think we've got too many problems we've got to solve."

When asked about his comments by Fox news today, Biden said he has no evidence that criminal charges would be warranted and no intention of pursuing action against the current president.

"What is true is the United States Congress is trying to preserve records on questions that relate to whether or not the law has been violated by anyone," Biden said, adding: "But, you know, there's been an awful lot of unsavoury stuff that's gone on. And the mere fact … that it occurred in a previous administration doesn't mean [a subsequent] Justice Department, if, in fact, there's evidence, shouldn't pursue them. "But I have no evidence of any of that. No one's talking about pursuing President Bush criminally."

Congressional Democrats have issued a flurry of subpoenas this year to senior Bush administration aides as part of a broad inquiry into the authorisation of torturous interrogation tactics used at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.

Three Bush White House veterans have been held in criminal contempt of congressional committees for refusing to respond to subpoenas in an inquiry on the firing of federal prosecutors: former counsel Harriet Miers, former political adviser Karl Rove, and current chief of staff Josh Bolten. The battle over Miers's and Bolten's testimony is currently before a federal court.

AP Points out the GOP Lies....

People it's time to wake up and smell the BS......

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held
back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and
flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the
reproach and the praise stretched the truth.
Some examples:

PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing
wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark
spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge
to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a
lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town
totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly
$750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request
in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million
bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that
opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to
nowhere."

PALIN: "There is much to like and admire about our
opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who
has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform _ not even in the
state senate."

THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in
the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with
Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal
shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional
weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that
accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar
of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was
the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial
profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential
death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform
legislation.

PALIN: "The Democratic nominee for president supports
plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes,
raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the
American people by hundreds of billions of dollars."

THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run
jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that
Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by
about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts
taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income
taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.

Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly
for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax
Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger
families.

He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and
dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with
incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses
that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.

MCCAIN: "She's been governor of our largest state, in
charge of 20 percent of America's energy supply ... She's responsible for 20
percent of the nation's energy supply. I'm entertained by the comparison and I
hope we can keep making that comparison that running a political campaign is
somehow comparable to being the executive of the largest state in America," he
said in an interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson.

THE FACTS: McCain's phrasing exaggerates both claims.
Palin is governor of a state that ranks second nationally in crude oil
production, but she's no more "responsible" for that resource than President
Bush was when he was governor of Texas, another oil-producing state. In fact,
her primary power is the ability to tax oil, which she did in concert with the
Alaska Legislature. And where Alaska is the largest state in America, McCain
could as easily have called it the 47th largest state _ by
population.

MCCAIN: "She's the commander of the Alaska National
Guard. ... She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of
her primary responsibilities," he said on ABC.

THE FACTS: While governors are in charge of their state
guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual
military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for
example, they assume those duties under "federal status," which means they
report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska's national guard
units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard
organizations.

FORMER ARKANSAS GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin "got more votes
running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of
the United States."

THE FACTS: A whopper. Palin got 616 votes in the 1996
mayor's election, and got 909 in her 1999 re-election race, for a total of
1,525. Biden dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses, but he still got
76,165 votes in 23 states and the District of Columbia where he was on the
ballot during the 2008 presidential primaries.

FORMER MASSACHUSETTS GOV. MITT ROMNEY: "We need change,
all right _ change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We
have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington _ throw
out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah
Palin."

THE FACTS: A Back-to-the-Future moment. George W. Bush, a
conservative Republican, has been president for nearly eight years. And until
last year, Republicans controlled Congress. Only since January 2007 have
Democrats have been in charge of the House and
Senate.

Republicans caught dissing Palin on the camera they thought was off.....sound familiar?????

Shout out to Politico.com

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0908/Noonan_Murphy_trash_Palin_on_hot_mic_Its_over.html

After a segment with NBC's Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant
Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live
mike ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.
"It's over," said Noonan, who then
responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman
McCain could have chosen.
"The most qualified? No. I think they went for this
— excuse me — political bullshit about narratives," she said. "Every time
the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what
they're good at, they blow it."
Murphy chimed in:
"The greatness of McCain
is no cynicism, and this is cynical."
Noonan's blunt call contrasted with her conflicted
column today
saying Palin "could become a transformative political
presence."
"The Sarah Palin choice is really going to work, or really not
going to work," Noonan wrote. "It's not going to be a little successful or a
little not; it's not going to be a wash. She is either going to be magic or one
of history's accidents. She is either going to be brilliant and groundbreaking,
or will soon be the target of unattributed quotes by bitter staffers shifting
blame in all 'The Making of the President 2008' books."

Michael Moore on Mccain

This is a very good blog I figured I would share.... take some time to check out his site also....

Random Thoughts from Michael Moore

Senator McCain Cuts and Runs, Governor Palin's "Labor" Day, and a New Hurricane Called, Um, Ike? Who Writes This Stuff?

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Well, I guess God got my email and answered my prayer. Man, the power of the Internet! He even emailed me back! I'll share that with you in the next few days. Proof there is a God in heaven? Never explain comedy or satire or the ironic comment. Those who get it, get it. Those who don't, never will...

John McCain said "it's time to take our Republican hats off and put our American hats on." Really? It would have been nice if Sen. McCain had put on his American hat in the three years since Katrina. Just so no one is fooled by all his fake concern for the people on the Gulf Coast, let's look at his record post-Katrina, compliments of Chris Hayes of The Nation:

If (McCain) cared about New Orleans and the Gulf Coast he could have done something these past three years. He could have made Gulf Reconstruction his issue, he could have excoriated his party for pushing federal dollars into the hands of cronies, for providing inadequate resources, for allowing the further destruction of the wetlands that serve as the only natural barrier to storm surges. He could have taken on the insurance companies that have been serially screwing the residents of the gulf. But he was too busy pushing for more troops, and more war and running for president.

Instead this is his record [via Mother Jones]:

Though McCain issued a statement the next week (after Katrina) calling on Congress to make sacrifices in order to fund recovery efforts, he was quoted in The New Leader on September 1 [2005] cautioning against over-spending in support of Katrina's victims. "We also have to be concerned about future generations of Americans," he said. "We're going to end up with the highest deficit, probably, in the history of this country."

That attitude was borne out in McCain's actions and votes. Forty Senators and 100 members of Congress visited New Orleans before he did; he finally got there in March 2006. He voted against establishing a Congressional commission to examine the Federal, State, and local responses to Katrina in med-September 2005. He repeated that vote in 2006. He voted against allowing up to 52 weeks of unemployment benefits to people affected by the hurricane, and in 2006 voted against appropriating $109 billion in supplemental emergency funding, including $28 billion for hurricane relief.

So honestly, it's an insult to watch him make a show of concern now. ... continue reading
