Oprah Donates to Newark Schools

Oprah Winfrey has donated more than $1.5 million to improve the education system in the most populated city in New Jersey. Winfrey’s donation will be used to fund scholarships and programs benefiting students in Newark, New Jersey, with $500,000 in grants going to at least three local education and community groups.

In a statement released by Newark Mayor Cory Booker, he says, “Oprah Winfrey is a powerful agent of change in our nation and she is a phenomenal friend to Newark. Her gifts will directly empower hundreds and hundreds of Newark families and help source our city’s success. We rejoice in Oprah’s generosity and celebrate her life commitment to serving others.”

St. Benedict’s Preparatory School, the North Ward Center and the Integrity House were among several grant recipients, according to the New York Post.
The donation comes nearly two years after Winfrey donated $40 million to build an elite girls school in South Africa.

A sex-abuse scandal that rocked the South African Leadership Academy for Girls after its opening in 2007 reportedly prompted the mogul to make the donation closer to home.

F.A.M.E. "HARD+WORK" downloaded 20K times in 24hrs?!?!?

What's good folk? As those of you know, who are on my mailing list for events, and pertinent info related to my company GDMworldwide, yesterday was the release of F.A.M.E. sophomore album "Hard+Work" well this morning I woke up to several messages relating that the album which was provided for FREE has been downloaded 20,000 times within 24 hours! Currently I'm waiting for detailed response to make sure how accurate this is, but from the spike in web volume I was sent.... it looks like "Viral Music Marketing" is paying off for the up and coming artist!

Many independent bloggers, and websites have done stories from around the globe, mixed with his digital graphic design fans, this is taking off like no other independent buzz!

Newark Hospital Hazing????

A UMDNJ paramedic, identified by university officials as Timothy Prahm, adjusts sheets draped over two Northeastern University students working this summer at University Hospital in Newark. Prahm and two other UMDNJ paramedics have been fired, and university officials say an investigation into the July 6 incident continues.

In today's day and age I am not shocked at the mindset of racist or biased people. What I am shocked with is the fact that anyone in this day and age would even attempt to get away with such a blatant act of the sort. This happening in the middle of a predominately black city once called the "chocolate city" is appalling......

I mean really with cameras on phones, and everything being caught on tape this is just sad........

No one learned from; Michael Richardson, Don Imus, Geraldine Ferraro and the list goes on. If you are planning to think your comments/actions will go unnoticed then you are more ignorant then your own personal ideas of biased-ness....

Just recently, a longtime Washington talk-show host John McLaughlin was facing fire Monday for referring to Barack Obama as an "Oreo" during a segment on his Sunday political program, "The McLaughlin Group.
